First Battle of the Frames Contest

C4DTraining would like to see what you’ve got. So we are going to start having a contest for you to post your work. Each month we’ll have a contest based on a theme. The rules will be simple:
1) Don’t talk about Battle of the Frames (ok, I had to do it) actually, please do tell your friends.
2) You must use Cinema 4D in your entry. The majority of the work should be done in C4D. What is “the majority”? Use your best judgment.
3) The limit is 10 seconds. Music and or sound FX are encouraged
4) Post your video to Vimeo and include a link back to this post.
5) Leave a comment here with a link to your video and I’ll add it to the channel.
Deadline is December 22, 2009 Midnight – Pacific Standard Time.
Unfortunately there is no “prize” other than having the winners posted here for everyone to see…
So the theme for this month is winter/holidays. Use your imagination, practice your Cinema 4D skills and enter the darn contest!!!
Thanks to MographTV for the suggestion on the name of the contest!

That’s cool! I’ll try to do something, although I have lots of works for college in the end of this semester. Anyway, deadline is good!
Hey Franco – What’s a little more work? Just kidding. My students are in crunch mode right now as well. Would extending the date to the 30th be helpful? I’m considering it so my students might enter as well…let me know what you think.
Hi! Tim, thanks for all the fantastic tutorials..:) Can you please help me, because I’m having problems exporting to After Effects from Cinema 4D….:( I’m using Cinema 4D 11.5, and want to make a picture box with a screen on it. Then, I wan’t to take it to After Effects ,and add some footage to the screen in the picture box? I tried so many times by using the ” External Composition Tag. But, when I bring it to After Effects the position is all mess up. I already when Maxon, and download the latest plug-in version..:( Don’t know what to do next–it would be nice if you do a Tutorial on exporting picture boxes to After Effects.:) Hey, thanks again, and keep up the good work.
Hey Joe -
That’s actually a good idea for a tutorial…so I’ve been working on it and hope to have something up before Monday.
Glad you are enjoying the site.
Too bad I just noticed this contest…
Better luck next time…
Yea, I’m not sure how many people will be entering with the holidays upon us. I’ll probably open the next one up within the next few days. Probably be due the end of January, so start thinking now!
Where’s the vimeo channel with all the entries?
What’s the theme?
Who won? (it’s February 12th already)
No one entered…so we most likely won’t be doing it again. It’s a shame really. People had the opportunity to show their work. If we get requests to do it again, maybe we’ll consider trying it again.
Don’t give up. I’m looking for more challenges in which to participate. I just did my first one at greyscaleguerilla and want to do more. The challenges are really gaining popularity over there, but there’s been some downtime since the last one. The only way they’ll get big over here is if you continue to have them. I would also recommend making the theme more clear. I didn’t understand if “Battle of the Frames” was the title of the competition, or the theme, or both. Or, does anything go? Because I’d rather have structured limitations. That’s what makes these challenges such valuable exercises. Anyway, good luck. I’ll check back.
BTW, I decided to leave my real email address. It’s this one, not the yahoo one. Please inform me of future challenges. Thanks.
Thanks Jason for the words of encouragement. Being a new site, I realize that we don’t have as many people viewing it as other sites…so I just figured it wasn’t worth doing at this point. I think, however, that you have convinced me otherwise. The first battle did have specifications. The theme was winter, it was to be no longer than 10 seconds and was to be done primarily in Cinema 4D. I find with my students that giving too many specifications hinders their creativity, too few and they are lost in a void not knowing where to start. The second battle I announced, I thought maybe no one entered the first because of the theme, so I decided to leave it open…I will be announcing a third soon thanks to you. Any suggestions for a theme? Thanks again for the encouragement.
